Workers' Comp for the Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut Construction Industry
The construction industry, by nature, is one that comes with many different types of risks for contractors and subcontractors. Yet this industry is a vital part of the RI, MA, and CT economies, and each type of building job poses a unique set of safety risks. It is important to be aware of construction safety and the hazards facing employees as they work on a building construction project.
For 30 years, Beacon has been proud to provide workers' compensation insurance to the majority of builders, contractors and tradesmen in Rhode Island and we now cover those that work in the construction industry in Massachusetts and Connecticut too. We understand the industry and the challenges your construction company faces, and we're here to support you and your employees.
Safety Training
Beacon offers seminars and webinars for contractors and tradesmen to help you on the job. Many of the training courses that cover equipment used on the job site such as ladders and staple guns. In addition, Beacon offers OSHA 10 General Construction Courses several times a year as well as online OSHA 10-hour webinars to enable employees to earn 10-hour certification. This can save you $150 to $225 per employee!
Developing a Safety Program
Every construction company should have a construction safety program to include training for employees on procedures to prevent common injuries like slips and falls, contact from harmful substances, falls, repetitive motion, and strains and sprains from handling materials. All construction industry sectors including single-family-home construction and non-residential construction companies should also practice fire safety by installing the proper equipment, training employees, and implementing fire safety procedures on any type of job site.
